The internet, I honestly believe, is the next evolution of the democratic system and is more powerful than we could ever imagine. The internet has been and will be used to change the world on a daily basis and we absolutely can not allow legislation like SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act) to be passed in any form. This legislation could allow a very dangerous precedent to be set to deny our free speech and liberty that the internet has enabled us to exercise more than ever before all under the guise of “stopping piracy”. Some of my favorite websites, like Google and Wikipedia, are taking a strong stance against this legislation (like the Internet Blackout tomorrow, January 18th) and we all should, too. It won’t radically change everything, but it at least will get the message out and maybe, hopefully, make our politicians have doubts on voting in support of this legislation.

I couldn’t have said it better.
